Overview

Maurer Söhne, Munich, is for more than three decades the leading global manufacturer of structural protection systems and is worldwide market leader with its expansion joints and bridge bearings.

Manifold deformations and movements at a bridge are created by internal and external stresses, which must be considered during design of the structural protection devices. Compensation of bridge movement is on the one hand guaranteed by a complex bearing system, on the other hand by structural gaps between adjacent superstructure sections, which are bridged by usually traffic-loaded so-called expansion joints.

Also for decades MAURER seismic devices and vibration absorbers have been used for protecting structures which are at risk of damage from vibration as there are e. g. bridges, steel stacks, stands etc.

Maurer devices passed successfully several seismic full-scale tests at recognised testing institutes, executed e.g. at the testing institutes of the Universities of San Diego, Berkeley, Bochum, Munich.

Maurer devices can be equipped with sensors and data communication equipment which allow the setup of a monitoring system. That way, the behaviour of structures can be fully monitored from the office.
